June 22, 2015

Hey family and friends!!

This week has been good! Lots of area book work :)

Monday, after emailing we were suppose to go thrifting with our district but that got cancelled so we just hung around Ephrata. We had lunch at Wendy's, went and walked around kmart, and did some family history at the library. We had dinner at the Gardners, they are a pretty young couple, they have a little girl and she is super cute!! They are awesome!! Then we went and saw Sister Hackman for a little while and then went and saw Safi. We taught her the Word of Wisdom and we were a little worried because she is part of the Indian culture (came from India) and they love their tea. So we talked to her about it and she said that her mom does love her tea but that she hates it and also coffee!! So she has NO problems with the Word of Wisdom. That was great news for us :) She can't be baptized right now because of the situation she is in but we are just preparing her for that day when she can choose for herself, we know that one day she will be baptized!! She is great :)

Tuesday, we had a study session with Austin in the morning and that was great!! After that we went home and did our studies and then went to the Eberly's (brother Eberly is the ward mission leader) and worked on our area book transferring for a couple of hours. Then we went and did service and Ephrata Manor again, that is always fun :) Then we went back to the Eberly's and did more area book transferring... we have A LOT to do.. Sister Eberly fed us that night, it was good :) We had homemade lasagna, that was the first time I have had that since I have been out. Later that night we had a lesson with Sister Batista, bishop came. We had a great lesson about the temple she wants to get her temple recommend so she can go :) Super exciting, if she goes soon that means I can go to the Washington DC temple!!! YAYY :) The lesson was really good, bishop shared a lot of really good things with her, he is just awesome!!

Wednesday, we went to the Eberly's and worked on our area book seriously ALL day... Till 6 then we had dinner again with the Eberly's. After that we went to the church so our district leader could look at our progress... Ya we still have quite a bit to do.. So this was a really long day...

Thursday, we had a study session with Austin, good as always :) His friend Gary was there, and he is a former investigator so that was awesome!! He actually gave us a referral to go see :) Then we did MORE area book transferring, ya we have done a ton of work on that..! Then we went and saw MaryAnn, we had a great lesson with her. We taught her the Restoration, she was interested but she said it was just a lot to take in. But she said that we could come back next week!!! Yayyy new investigator :):) Super excited about that! After her lesson we did a little more area book work then had dinner at the Stephensons. It was good :) Then we had a lesson with the Burd family. It was a little hectic, the kids were kinda crazy, but it was good. Brother and Sister Burd were able to share some experiences they had where they felt the Holy Ghost and the spirit was defiantly there!!! It was awesome to see them recognize the Holy Ghost :)

Friday, we had Zone Conference!! It was SUPER good!! President and Sister Johnson are seriously so awesome!!!! I love them so much :) We talked about using the right tool for the task we are doing, talking about the devices we have. He said that we can't let the ipad replace us as missionaries, we have to use them for the purpose they are intended for. I loved it :) Then Presidents assistants did a training on social media.. WOW there are going to be lots of changes here in PA! There is a possibility that we will get Facebook this week... CRAZY! They shared some pretty cool experiences that have happed to other missionaries. But I am going to be honest, I am a little scared because I don't want it to become a distraction and I know that I can control myself but still I think it is going to be hard.. But I am still excited because it can help the work progress SO much more :)  Ephesians 6:13-16 talks about a shield of faith and how it will help. So I know that if I have the armor of God (doctrine of Christ/my purpose) then I will be ok :) After zone conference, we went home and had some dinner. That night we went and saw a potential investigator, Darla. We had a great lesson with her, taught her the restoration and we actually invited her to baptism and she said yes!! We don't have a date it was just a soft invitation, so when she comes to know that it is true we will set a date :) She is awesome!! So we were able to pick her up as a new investigator and Sister Blake and I are pretty excited!!!

Saturday, we had a study session with Austin, it went good :) We read and discussed grace. Then we went to the Eberly's for coorelation and that was good as always :) So most of our appointments cancelled on us so we ended up staying and the Eberly's doing area book work for a little bit. Then we home and had lunch and did our weekly planning :) We had dinner with the Taboras. Sister Tabora is active, her husband is a non-member. We had a great time!! They are awesome, that was the most I have laughed at a dinner appointment!! It was lots of fun!! After dinner we went and had a lesson with Safi. She basically testified to us about the things she has learned. We talked to her about missionary work and she want's to share what she has learned with her family and friends!!! She is awesome :)

Sunday, (HAPPY FATHERS DAY DAD!!!) we went to church and we didn't have ward council after because of fathers day, so we went home and had some lunch and then worked on the area book for awhile. Later that night we went and tried some potential investigators. We stopped by this guy named Franz. He said that the missionaries use to come every Wednesday night to have dinner... He said that BYU is the best school!! AWESOME :) He knows Hebrew. He said that we could come back anytime so that is great :) We might have to give him over to the Spanish sisters because he doesn't speak a ton of English, he is pretty good at it but it would be better for the Spanish sisters to teach him because they go to the Spanish branch that is in our stake. So that was pretty sweet that we found him :) Then we went and saw the referral Gary gave us. His name is Stephan, he seemed pretty interested and said we could come back. We talked to him for a minute then he had to go do something. So we went home and did some more area book transferring :)

Well this week has been full of area book!! haha :) But we have been truly blessed with finding people this week and being able to see President and Sister Johnson and having some really good lessons!! My studies have been going great!! I am keeping a study journal and that is helping me a ton!! I am in Alma 44 in my Book of Mormon reading, love the war chapters haha!! Just read this morning about one of Captain Moroni's soldiers scalping Zarahemnah and putting his scalp on the end of his sword... so ya that was pretty great haha :) But truly I love being able to study every day and grow my knowledge of the Gospel. My testimony grows each and every day!! I love it :)

I am so glad that you all had a good week. Glad Blake had a fun and safe time at cedar badge, cant believe how old hes getting!! Seems like you had a great time up at the cabin and john was able to come up!! How is he doing? Love you all to the moon and back :) Have an AMAAAAZING week!!!!! LOVE YOU

Love, Sister Kierra Wadsworth
