March 7, 2016

Hey family and friends!!

This week I have had a bad cold. It has been really unfortunate. I was
running a fever of 100-101 for a couple days. So needless to say, it
was kinda a slow week. I have been really tired and drained but each
day we went out and did a little work so that was nice!! It only
started on Wednesday so Monday and Tuesday were good :)

So last Sunday we got a new Ward mission leader, Nate Hartung, and
Wednesday night we had our first meeting with him. He is gunna be
awesome!! He reminds me soooo much of Mike! (My cousin) He is only 27
so he remembers his mission pretty well and so he knows what he is
doing. We are have made some great plans for the work here in Butler!!
It was a pretty neat experience for me when he got called as our new
WML, when they said his name I knew that he was the one to be called
in this position. I had goosebumps from head to toe and I knew that
the spirit was testifying to me that it was the right thing. I am
going to miss Brother Firouzi (old WML), he was a great guy and he was
lots of fun. We sure are excited to work with Nate though :):) He
played football for BYU for a year. He also played in Arizona. HE
LIKES FOOTBALL!!!! Hahahaha

Thursday we did service almost all day, from 9:30am to about 6:00 pm.
It was fun, as always :) Our mission is starting to enroll the "Just
Serve" initiative and so we are trying to find more service
opportunities. We love doing service so it isn't a problem for us!!
Haha So on Thursday night we went and contacted a media referral we
had gotten on Wednesday and all the guy wanted to do was argue and try
to fight with us about our religion. He asked soooo many questions! It
was pretty interesting. He said that he would read and pray about the
Book of Mormon and I know that if he truly has a desire to know the
truth he will receive by reading and praying about the Book of Mormon.
This week in district meeting we talked about the Book of Mormon and
how important it is, especially in this day and age. I liked a comment
that someone said, they said that the Book of Mormon is not only the
keystone to our religion but also the keystone to our life. If we
read, ponder, and pray about it we will be guided throughout our
entire lives!! It was great and my testimony of the Book of Mormon was
defiantly strengthened :)

Yesterday we had the opportunity to go to a fireside up in Jamestown
New York!! I have been in four different states on my mission:
Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, and New York. The "missionary
choir" sang 3 songs for the fireside. It was all the missionaries in
the Jamestown stake and a couple other missionaries who are around
that stake. It was so awesome to be able to be there. It is a "Why I
Believe" fireside so President and Sister Johnson bore their
testimonies, a new member bore her testimony and why she believes, and
then the stake president bore his testimony. It was my second "Why I
Believe" fireside I have participated in. So our district and the AP's
drove up in a 12 passenger van, it was 2 sisters and 10 elders, that
sure was a fun ride hahahaha!!! ;) On the way back we got to know each
other a lot better though. We asked a couple of questions and we went
around and everyone gave their answer. Oh and we did spiritual
animals, I am a honey bear!! Hahahahahahaha I guess it fits pretty
well :):) It was fun!

I hope you all have a fantastic week and I love you all so very
much!!! I am praying for you all that Heavenly Father will be with you
and bless you in all that you do!!! Love you!!!

Love,
Sister Wadsworth

Oh I almost forgot to tell you all about the experience we had at
church on Sunday.  So in fast and testimony we had someone go up to
the pulpit in street clothes and he tried to prove the church wrong by
using the Bible. He was about 10-15 minutes in and then one of the
members of the bishopric got up and told him that he needs to let
other people get a turn. So he said I bare my testimony not of this
church and he talked about how he doesn't believe that Joseph Smith
saw the angel Moroni. It was crazy! It turned out to be one of the
best testimony meetings I've been in. There were a lot of people who
got up and bore some pretty solid testimonies. The difference between
the spirit was amazing, when this kid was bearing his testimony I just
felt empty and you could feel the spirit leave but when others went up
and said that they knew that the church is true the spirit came back
even more powerful! It was a pretty amazing testimony builder for me
because I was a reaffirmed that I knew that the church was sure,
without a doubt I know it's true!!!! Love ya :)

Hello there family and friends!!!

This week had been pretty good, the work is slow right now but we are still trying to work hard!! We realized that we haven't been doing the best we can so we set goals for this week to help us work hard and be diligent and exactly obedient. One of our goals is to have the Book of Mormon on our minds always. This will help us be able to share it with others no matter what and be able to help others gain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which is what we ultimately want. We were listening to a talk yesterday while we were driving around contacting people and it talked about our missionary purpose and gave us some great advice to apply to our missionary work. It is called 60 minutes to a successful missionary. It is a former mission president talking to missionaries. It was a great talk to listen to!! We really liked when he talked about keeping a good attitude when you are persecuted or shut down. He said that when someone says no or shuts the door in your face you receive blessings every time!! That is a lot of blessings and a great reason to say happy and positive!! :) 3 Nephi 12:10

We had good experience this week with contacting less-actives. We went and tired a less-active and she had moved but her son and ex-husband still lived at the house and we asked him for her new address and so we went and contacted her. It was later in the evening so it was pretty dark and we didn't see any lights on in the house but we knocked anyways. No one came to the front door so we went to try the apartment behind the house because there were lights on but before we got there we turned and looked at the house and there was one light on in the top floor so we went to the back door and rang the doorbell. Vitalia(LA) came to the door and let us right in!! She was so surprised to see us!! (I would be too!!) She said "how did you find me?" As a missionary you learn how to stalk/find people really well, we didn't tell her that but it's so true!!! hahaha We were able to testify of the gospel say a prayer with her. It was great and the spirit was really strong!!

This week we did A LOT of service!!! On Tuesday we helped with produce to people. We helped package things and then give them out to people. Thursday morning we went and helped at the Lighthouse, it is a huge food bank!! We gave out produce to people as well :) It was fun, we got to share to people about missionary work :) Thursday afternoon we went to Katies Kitchen and helped prepare the food and serve people. I love service SOOOOO much!!! It helps us forget about ourselves and helps others who are in need. It is one of my favorite things to do :) I just want to serve all the time!!! Which we try to ;)

Saturday we had a member take us to a clothing outlet that everything was $1!! She comes out with us almost every Saturday and this week she wanted to take us to this outlet so we did that.. It was pretty awesome though!! We got some stealer deals :) I got A TON of jewelry for only $3 for all of it!! We were pretty excited. We got some skirts, shirts, cardigans, sweaters, a dress, and some sweat pants. We got a lot!! haha :)

I truly do love being a missionary even though it is real tough sometimes and the work is really slow. It helps me grow in patience and continuing forward in afflictions. I have felt the love the Christ has for all of us. He loves us soooo much!!! I have learned so much more about the Atonement while on my mission. He has literally felt EVERYTHING!! When I am struggling and even when I am happy I think to myself "Christ felt this, He knows how I feel right now." It gives me so much comfort knowing that there is always knows how I feel exactly and He knows how to comfort us and help us continue forward!! It has been a great testimony builder for me :) I love the Lord and I love His work!! I invite all to receive their own testimony of the Atonement, apply it to your life!! You will be blessed :) I read in my studies this morning in Alma 34 and I want to end this with a verse that really stuck out to me, Alma 34:32-34.

I love you all sooooo much!!! Even to the moon and back :) haha Have a fantastic week and continue forward in all you doing looking to the one who knows you best!!

LOVE YOU!!!

Love, Sister Wadsworth
